Four years ago, Jeff Strasser made a healthy decision that changed his life. After being out of shape for most of his life, he decided it was time to get in shape for himself and his family. His first step was buying a fitness tracker to get in his 10,000 steps each day. From there, he progressed to the treadmill, where he soon found himself running a few miles per day. In combination with a smarter diet, he lost close to 30 pounds over the course of 10 months. Jeff has kept the weight off for four years now, and became a runner and half-marathoner.
“It has been a great life and lifestyle change for me, first off catching up with my wife Amy, who has always been in great shape. My two oldest children are both now runners themselves (and nothing makes me happier than to see them run, compete and feel great about their results) and my youngest, now 8 years old, is a competitive figure skater.”
After trying other brands of protein bars, Jeff and his family found NuGo bars about a year ago. His family eats about 15 NuGo bars per week, as breakfast on-the-go or a workout snack. His wife Amy, who introduced him to NuGo bars, has had stomach issues her entire life, including a major intestinal surgery both at birth and in her 20s. So finding something, like NuGo bars, that works for her diet and sensitivities has always been a challenge. Amy loves NuGo Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, while Jeff and the three kids are hooked on NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel.
“I'm a huge dark chocolate fan and the fact that this is real dark chocolate is a huge plus. The dark chocolate and salt together is an awesome combo....definitely my favorite. More recently, I also gave the NuGo Slim bars a try, and considering their significant amount of (quality) protein, low sugar, and nothing artificial....I'm a fan, the Raspberry Truffle being my favorite.”
Jeff work in business development at a large technology/software company, where he works with partners who are building cool new technology experiences including virtual reality, artificial intelligence, bots and all sorts of other cloud powered apps and services. He travels often for work as well, and the best perk is being able to run in new cities and countries. His favorite run has been at the Parque del Retiro, in the center of Madrid, Spain. It's a maze of paths, gardens, ponds, and just a fantastic experience. He always packs NuGo bars on his trips for a post run snack, given the hotel mini-bar doesn't usually stock any quality food to refuel.
Jeff shared his advice for getting in shape.
“Don't wait another day. Go for a walk, enjoy the fresh air, and find something you love to do and can be passionate about. It has been a life changing experience for me...physically, mentally, and in my relationships with my family.”
