Hannah started eating NuGo bars five years ago when she was only 14 years old. Now, she is a college student at Penn State majoring in food science with a minor in nutrition. Her career goal is product development or research development for a company that emphasizes and promotes health and wellness in order to help make it easier for people on-the-go to live their healthiest life possible!
It is important to Hannah to eat real, nourishing foods. She likes to stick to a plant-based diet with quality meats or other proteins and lots of healthy fats to fuel her muscles for the running she does. So, NuGo bars fit perfectly with her lifestyle.
“I love NuGo bars because they taste like a candy bar and aren’t made with chemicals, unnecessary sugars, or artificial sweeteners. They’re one of the only protein bars I can eat without feeling heavy or bloated afterwards. I love how NuGo Nutrition as a company is so focused on helping people with all kinds of different lifestyles live their healthiest life.”
Hannah’s favorite NuGo bars are NuGo Slim Espresso, NuGo Family Vanilla Yogurt, and NuGo Dark Coconut Chocolate and Chocolate Pretzel. She always has all four stocked in her pantry! She explained when she likes to eat each flavor.
“I bring a NuGo Slim bar with me every day to work because it keeps me full and energized even when I’m on my feet for 8 hours! I eat the Vanilla Yogurt bars before hard workouts or long runs because it has the perfect combination of carbs and protein to fill me up without feeling heavy in my stomach. I ate one before all four of my half marathons! Since I’m always craving chocolate at night and after workouts, NuGo Dark bars are a must-have in my house to tackle those cravings while nourishing my body with antioxidants and vegan protein.”
In the past, Hannah played soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, and swimming, but running cross country is the only one that stuck with her through high school and into college. Her current fitness interests are training for her first marathon and maybe another half marathon as well. While running is her passion, she also loves weight training, yoga, and hiking. Hannah described her desire to train for marathons.
“I have a lot of experience in training and running 5k’s throughout high school. Although I enjoyed them, I never really felt like that was my race. After running my personal best of 20:40 during my senior year of high school, I felt as though it was time to try something new going into college. Before I started classes at Penn State, I had done three half marathons so I felt as though I was ready to train for the full 26.2. However, my Achilles was injured in training for the full marathon in Pittsburgh this year. At first I was super disappointed, but I ended up running the Pittsburgh half marathon instead and won my division with a new best time of 1:38!”
