Olympic Men’s Foil Fencer Race Imboden travels the world as a professional fencer and model. At only 21-years-old, he has already medaled at numerous World Cups individually and as part of the US Team, competing everywhere from Azerbaijan to Tokyo. At the 2012 Olympics in London where the US fencing team placed fourth, Race was the second youngest male on the entire US Olympic team. He is currently ranked number two in the world, and he was part of the first US Men’s Foil Team to be number one in the world.
Race described his life as, “a strange clash of two different worlds. I spend my time when I am not fencing working as a model. I have walked the runway for Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Rag and Bone, and many more. The last few years have really been a whirlwind of incredible impossibilities. Yet, modeling has really helped to fund my dream of being a professional fencer, so they go hand in hand and for that I am very thankful.”
Race’s favorite bar is NuGO STRONGER Caramel Pretzel. Depending on the day, he uses NuGO STRONGER for either a pre-workout boost or for post-workout recovery. Race explained, “When I am training for 6-7 hours a day the last thing I want is to put something unhealthy in my body, and I find I usually have to compromise on some level with protein bars. NuGo has really raised the bar when it comes to a protein packed bar that doesn’t sacrifice anything when it comes to healthy ingredients and low sugar.”
The first world cup of the new season for Race is in San Francisco in early October, and NY Fashion Week is right around the corner, so keep your eyes open! Follow him on Instagram and Twitter, Race_Imboden, and on his blog havefoilwilltravel.com, where he shares healthy recipes in his spare time.
